UPCOMING SPRING TOURAMENT!

Sirota’s Alchymy will be hosting our Martial Arts Tournament on Sunday, April 26th. This event is for All students who attend classes at The Alchymy. All Ages… All Ranks… All Programs!

Divisions & Rules

Patterns (Segments) Divisions (White – Black Belt)

Participants will be divided into appropriate divisions based on age and rank. Each contestant will be called to the centre of the ring to perform their pattern of choice. Once finished, the judges will score the contestant based on overall technique, confidence, power, speed, balance and presentation. Contestants may do the pattern of their belt or one below. Top three participants in each division will be awarded with gold, silver, and a bronze medal.

 

Sparring Divisions (Yellow – Black Belt)

Sparring competition is open to all competitors who are yellow belt or higher. Participants will be divided based on rank, age and size. Each sparring match will consist of two rounds of 1 minute each. The competitor with the most points at the end of the match will be declared a winner and move to the next level of competition. Light contact to the face only is permitted. Excessive force or kicks to the face that result in any type of injury will result in deduction of points or disqualification. The top three competitors in each division will receive a gold, silver and bronze medal.

 

Board Breaking Divisions (All)

This division is open to all competitors. Participants will be divided into various groups based on age and rank. Each contestant will have two board breaking stations. One chance is permitted to break each board. The techniques permitted are weighed according to difficulty. Following the board breaking attempts, the competitors will be awarded with points based on the success of the break and the difficulty of the technique. Top three competitors in each division will be awarded with a gold, silver and bronze medal.

Permitted Techniques with minimum scores for successful breaks – Pick 2:

Hammer Fist = 1, Palmheel Strike = 2, Elbow Strike = 3, Side Kicks = 4, Front Kick = 5, Knifehand Strike = 6, Round Kick = 7, Stretch High Kick = 8, 360 Degree Round Kick = 9, Back Kick = 10, Jumping Back Kick = 11, Flying Side Kick over obstacle = 12, Spinning Hook Kick = 13, Jumping Front Kick (face level) = 14, No Break = 0

 

Self-Defense Divisions (White – Black)

Competitors will be divided into appropriate divisions based on age and rank. Each student will have 45 seconds to demonstrate his/her self-defense techniques against an adult non-resistant attacker. Competitors will be judged on the overall technique/presentation including skills performed, confidence, speed, variety, control and effectiveness. Competitors can apply strikes, kicks, joint locks and takedowns during this competition. Top three competitors in each division will be awarded with a gold, silver and bronze medal.

 

Tiny Tiger, New Student & Special Needs Divisions Basics

These divisions are for competitors who have not learned their required segments/pattern or self-defense skills. Competitors will perform their kicking techniques, hand techniques, blocks and stances. Top three competitors in each division will be awarded with a gold, silver and bronze medal.

Grand Championship Trophy

Each student competing at this tournament will be awarded with points based on their placement in their own divisions. The competitor with the top score will be declared the Grand Champion and will be presented with the Trophy. To qualify for the Grand Championship Trophy, the competitor must participate in a minimum of three divisions.

We will award the Grand Champion Trophy to the participant who has the most points at the end of the tournament. The more divisions a student enters the greater the opportunity to win the Grand Championship Trophy.

Students will be placed in divisions based on their age, rank and program. All competitors will select a minimum of two divisions to compete in.

During the next two months our instructors will focus on the Tournament preparation in every class. All students will be ready to participate and have an amazing experience.

 Medals will be presented to all 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each division
